Jointly water monitoring by farmers in Groningen

‘Boeren Meten Water’ (in English: farmers monitoring water) is an initiative of farmers and water boards to monitor jointly.

‘Boeren Meten Water’ (in English: farmers monitoring water) is an initiative of farmers and water boards to monitor jointly. Monitoring groundwater levels, soil moisture and salinity in ditches, drains and groundwater, increases knowledge. Thereby, it provides insights into bottlenecks, such as salinization of soil and surface water. Increasing knowledge about these bottlenecks, provides more insights into the measures that both water boards and farmers could take.
